This tutorial is not suitable for beginners and children, since I skip some basic polymer clay steps and use sharp tools, a pasta machine, and heat during the work. The tutorials are designed for miniaturists who already have some experience with polymer clay and want to improve their skills or learn author's techniques.

In this video tutorial, I will show you step by step how to create a smooth multicolor gradient using the Skinner Blend technique. Using dragon fruit scales as an example, you will learn how to prepare several colors of polymer clay, combine them into a gradient sheet, repeatedly fold and roll the clay through a pasta machine, and achieve a soft transition from one color to another.

I will also show you how to transform the finished gradient into a cane, compress and reduce it while preserving the color transition, and cut it into small decorative elements. In this project, these elements become the characteristic three-color scales of a miniature dragon fruit, but the same Skinner Blend principles can be used for flowers, leaves, food miniatures, fantasy projects, and many other polymer clay details.

The tutorial also demonstrates how to control where each color appears in the gradient, how to preserve a clean central color, and how to shape the resulting cane so that the finished slices have the desired form and color distribution.
